This was a school project, where the goal was to brand an exhibit at a local museum using ONLY typography. I chose the Oozing Whale Skeleton at the Whaling Museum in New Bedford. This whale skeleton has been oozing oil for decades.
The design process was very organic and playful. I dragged the type across an image scanner (as it was scanning) to elongate the text and give it an incremental "oozing" feel. Yes, those are my fingers dragging the page across the scanner bed.
I filled each iteration with lines to represent the oil that is collecting over time.
